Creative arts strengthen schools, enhance economic activities, bridge cultural divides, and build a sense of common purpose. Our job is to elevate and amplify the arts’ impact on our communities. Since 1960, we’ve worked to support anchor institutions, artists, teachers, festivals, and public art. Today, we combine that work with efforts to strengthen the Greater Greensboro area’s art ecosystem.

Your Corporate Affinity membership helps to:
- Augment grants for Artist Support Grantees, helping them advance professionally. The Artist Support Grant is a competitive program awarding $500 to $2,000 to 20-35 talented artists annually.
- Support the work of the Artist Services and Impact Officer, who provides critical guidance to local creatives.

- Joe Grant, Craft: Requested funds to assist in the creation of aluminum frames and purchasing LED light panels to explore new ways of illuminating textile and glass sculptures.
- Marcus Brathwaite, Craft: Requested funds to design and build a Windsor chair that will be the first piece in the Basil Furniture line.
- Max Saunders, Craft: Requested funds to build a wood-firing “train kiln” just outside of Greensboro, NC. This kiln will be communally fired to support multiple community members.
- Sarah Harvell, Craft: Requested funds to elevate her artistic practice and effectively showcase her jewelry, as well as funding for a digital camera and computer to improve photography and website management.
- Jen Guy Metcalf, Dance: Requested funds for “Career Promotion.” Plans to utilize funding to support the development of professional materials.
- Marielis Garcia, Dance: Requested funds to support an interdisciplinary performance work, Desirable Wait contends with humanity’s frivolity in degrading our natural environment in confluence with the patriarchal approach to the female body.
- Ashley Virginia Buffa, Music: Requested funds to attend the Folk Alliance International in Montreal, Canada, in February 2025. This is an international booking conference for the folk industry.
- Daniel Quisol, Music: Requested funds to create “The Music Annex,” a converted storage shed that serves as a versatile recording and rehearsal space for musicians to create and collaborate.
- Karl Ronnevik, Music: Requested funds to grow as a professional cellist musician and pedagogue by learning the mandocello from scratch and embracing the beginner mindset.
- Mayia Warren, Music: Requested funds to create the “Take Me Back” EP, reimagining old-school hymns and Sunday school songs in the style of R&B and Neo Soul.
- Sam Fribush, Music: Requested funds to support The Sam Fribush Organ Trio’s upcoming album that reimagines jazz organ for today, blending hip-hop influences with original compositions and new collaborations.
- Vincent van Gelder, Music: Requested funds to upgrade the primary studio and grand piano.
- Carrie K. Thomas, Performing Arts: Requested funds to fund initiation fee for membership in the Screen Actors Guild. “SAG-AFTRA is a requirement of the Union for Performing Artists.
- Brad Caviness, Visual Art: Requested funds to build models of Coral Reef cooling tower sculptures and conduct his first test of concrete that can be put into the ocean.
- Iniobong Roberts, Visual Art: Requested funds to access an exclusive backstage look at LAFW, capturing the artistry and dedication of stylists, makeup artists, and hairstylists who bring runway shows to life.
- Kasia Ozga, Visual Art: Requested funds to support her first solo exhibition in North Carolina will include bronze, aluminum, and textile sculptures sewn and cast from used blue-collar workwear.
- Lawrence Feir, Visual Art: Requested funds to create a specialized metal-forming tool for producing stainless-steel kinetic wind sculptures. A prototype tool proved successful on a small scale.
- Monica Hilario, Visual Art: Requested funds to create a series of paintings on the experience of being a human as we approach the artificial intelligence era that challenges traditional categories.
- Olutomi Balogun Juarez, Visual Art: Requested funds to create a series of small ceramic planters to sell online and at art shows. Will also create other small items, like magnets and beads.
- Rodgers Dameron, Visual Art: Requested funds to create a series of surreal, mixed-media drawings with a limited color palette. I’m combining ink, charcoal, and gold leaf, and they will be displayed alongside animated projections.
- Steven M. Cozart, Visual Art: Requested funds to create portraiture as related to masculinity in the Black Community among Males, using Chess as a metaphor for maneuvering through American Society.
- Travis Hicks, Visual Art: Requested funds to assist with the collection of watercolors on Aquaboard that will explore the pediatric cancer family experience and a second collection, unified through style and palette, will explore marginal places and spaces.
- Kendra Aya, Writing/Literature: Requested funds to support a project that includes recording, republishing, and distributing traditionally printed paperback poetry books into an audiobook made available on Spotify and other audio streaming platforms.
