When your creativity grows bigger than your workspace, you face a choice. You can accept the limits, or you can dream bigger and build the space to hold it. This is a story about music, but it is also a story about building. Building dreams, spaces, and community.
Daniel Quisol has made music for as long as he can remember. From childhood karaoke to playing guitar in his church’s youth band, music became a way to connect with others. Over time, he added bass, drums, and eventually his singing voice, discovering how sound could bring people together.
Today, Daniel is a multi-instrumentalist and singer creating music with his wife, Paulina, through their band Leclère. Their work blends dreamy melodies with thoughtful instrumental layering, all shaped by passion, faith, and themes of love.
This way of working reflects how Daniel moves through life. He builds spaces to bring people together, from garden beds for his family to a table meant for shared meals. Whether through music, IT, or the guitar in his hands, he approaches creation as an act of connection.
As his music and collaborations grew, the limits of his home studio became clear. Rather than scale back, Daniel began planning. That plan became: The Music Annex.
Built from the ground up with care and intention, The Music Annex is transforming Daniel’s backyard into a functional creative space, significantly extending the creation and recording potential of their converted bedroom studio.
Just a few steps from the kitchen, an already well-worn path now leads to the new space, quietly connecting the familiar with what is still taking shape.
With support from an Artist Support Grant from The ACGG, the new potential is electric.
ow with more room to create, something else is beginning to take shape: Community. The Quisols are still relatively new to Greensboro. Building The Music Annex is a way to plant roots in the creative ecosystem they now call home.
Daniel reflected on the moment he knew they needed more creative space: “We had some people come over to track vocals on songs we were collaborating on, and having people over just made it feel like the space wasn’t going to be enough for the next project as we expand.“
Out in The Music Annex the raw plywood walls are covered in meaningful words and scripture that will live beneath the insulation and finished drywall. There’s still plenty of work to be done, but the foundation is solid. Reflecting on the process of creating something from nothing, Daniel noted clear similarities between music-making and building.
“There’s definitely a parallel between composing music and building,” he said. “There’s no one right way to do art and limitless ways to go about things.” With a laugh, he added,
“There’s a lot of trial and error. They say measure twice, cut once… but I’ve been measuring three times and still having to cut twice.”
Looking ahead, Daniel imagines the next two years as a season of growth. He and his wife hope to release a new body of music created in The Music Annex. The space is designed to offer exceptional acoustics, deeper focus, and room for collaboration. They also hope to meet more artists in Greensboro and to open their doors to musicians they have not yet met. “We’re excited for the future,” he shared, expressing their desire to connect, create, and build relationships as much as music.
Whatever comes next, Daniel will have his family, his faith, and his music guiding the way. Expansively, and with other creatives alongside him, he is shaping a future where art becomes a shared endeavor and community is at the heart of what grows. Now there is space for it all.
