Organization Highlight: The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards

The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1992 and has been in independent operation for over 30 years. TAG began in the High Point Theatre facility when it opened in 1975 and moved in early 2023 to Congdon Yards. Since its inception, TAG has been High Point’s primary visual arts provider. TAG provides visual art exhibits and educational experiences, including classes and workshops for adults and youth to enrich the entire community.

TAG is excited to co-host the “Text Me!” series with screen printer Peter Daye of Cut The Music Prints. This eight-session series embodies TAG’s mission by combining literacy with visual design through four partnered sessions where participants will learn from and work with poets, playwrights, and authors in the first session, then create printed art with Daye based on inspiration from the text in the second session. While the audience for the series is focused primarily on high school students, events will be open to the public. The series will kick off with a “paint and print party” at TAG’s location in September with Daye and La’Toni Cromes from Stated (& nem), LLC. The first two-hour session in October will feature local authors from Triad Playwrights Theatre. TAG is thrilled to present this series with a generous ARPA grant from The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro.
