ArtsGreensboro 2022 Relief Grants

ArtsGreensboro Reentry Grants for April – June 2022

Deadline: January 31, 2022, 5:00 PM EST

The purpose of the Reentry Grant is to provide operating support for established Greensboro arts organizations with a proven track record of providing quality and accessible art experiences for the citizens of Greensboro.

ArtsGreensboro recognizes that all arts and culture organizations are operating under extreme uncertainties, with many unknown variables because of the pandemic’s lingering impact. For this year only, the Reentry Grants will be for an abbreviated cycle of April – June 30, 2022. This is due to the anticipated timing of decisions by City and County officials on the allocation of American Rescue Act Plan funds.

The Reentry Grant funds may be used in key areas:

  • Scaling personnel operations to meet renewed demand and assist in paying employees (new and existing); assist in increasing hourly rate paid to employees to mirror the City’s minimum wage of $15/hour
  • Securing technology to enable hybrid programming (live and virtual)
  • Funds to retain consultants to provide professional guidance that strengthens operational and business planning

The total pool of available funds is $170,000, the maximum grant amount is $25,000, and each grant must be matched 1:1.

When completing the Reentry Grant application, keep in mind the criteria by which the applications are reviewed. Ask yourself, are you making a good case for each criterion?

Review criteria:

  • Artistic quality of programs
  • Community impact of programs
  • Ability to plan and implement the programs
  • Stability and fiscal responsibility of the organization

Grants are reviewed by an external panel, which may not know your organization. They will discuss each application, have an opportunity to share thoughts and written comments on the applications, and score the application. The ranking process utilizes a scale of 1–5. A score of 3.0 indicates a fundable application. The ranking should reflect how well the application addresses the review criteria and the overall quality. Remember that this is a competitive process, and applications should be scored accordingly.

The 1–5 point scale is roughly equivalent to the following:

  • 5 Outstanding
  • 4 Very Good
  • 3 Good
  • 2 Fair
  • 1 Poor

Applications that receive an overall score of 2.9 or less are not fundable.

The following is an overview of the information that will be required as part of the final report. As part of the Reentry Grant Program, all applicants must have processes by which they collect and report data as outlined.

  1. Numeric and percentages of total participation by race/ethnicity, age, and gender.
  2. Stated goal: how were they met (or not) and lessons learned over the grant period
  3. Success stories or human-interest stories that would be media-worthy.
  4. Organizational changes over the grant period.
  5. Key partnerships and collaborations relevant to the grant.
  6. Staff and board demographics
  7. Documentation and copies of promotional materials, including the use of ArtsGreensboro.
  8. Full financial reports (or, if applicable, project budget to actual reports on the use of funds), including the source of matching funds.
