Arts nonprofits across the region are preparing a wide range of opportunities for young people to learn, explore, and stay engaged through creativity. Research continues to show that arts learning supports problem-solving, confidence, and leadership skills. Locally, teaching artists and educators have seen these outcomes firsthand, with students building both creative and personal confidence through arts experiences.
This summer’s offerings span disciplines and interests:
Visual Arts & Film
TAG, The Art Gallery, ArtQuest at Greenhill, and TAB Arts Center offer hands-on experiences in making, storytelling, and creative exploration.
Music & Voice
The John Coltrane Jazz Workshop (High Point Arts Council) and Greensboro Youth Chorus (Choral Arts Collective) provide opportunities for skill-building and collaboration.
Dance & Movement
Greensboro Ballet, Dance Project, and Royal Expressions School of Dance offer training from classical to contemporary styles.
Theatre & Performance
Summerfield Stage Company invites students into ensemble-based performance and storytelling.
These programs do more than fill time. They invite young people to explore, follow curiosity, and grow through creative experience, sometimes leading to future creative paths, and often sparking a lasting connection to the arts.
Sara Dockery, ArtQuest Program Coordinator says,
“At camp anything is possible, a cardboard box becomes a mansion for a fairy, a scribble becomes a dragon’s tail! Every child learns that their ideas matter, and they deserve to take up space in our world.”
