The historic Carolina Theatre of Greensboro is seeking a Box Office Manager to join our team and grow our promotion and brand in order to sustain the great art presented. Located in downtown Greensboro, NC, the Carolina Theatre is a mission driven nonprofit, working to present the arts, preserve history, and promote community. Our vision is to be the pre-eminent performing arts space for our community’s arts organizations. Each year, the Carolina Theatre welcomes over 100,000 people to a wide variety of live performances in our main auditorium and in The Crown (our Blackbox theatre). We have a robust cadre of volunteers including our active Board of Directors, greeters, and ticket takers. Our current strategic plan is focused on increasing our community engagement efforts, succession planning, and growing our marketing reach and donor base. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Carolina Theatre of Greensboro, Inc. seeks a full-time Box-Office Manager responsible for all aspects of box office oversight. They work closely with all departments to ensure smooth, safe, and fulfilling experiences for patrons visiting the Theatre, and report directly to the Executive Director. The salary range is $42,000-48,000 with medical insurance, paid holidays, sick leave and a 403 (b) retirement plan. The job is on-site at the Carolina Theatre of Greensboro.

Duties and Responsibilities

Front of House Support

  • Oversee Box Office personnel, which includes scheduling, work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution.
  • Develop/update manuals and training materials.
  • Provide a high degree of customer service orientation to maintain excellent public relations with our patrons and clients.
  • Work closely with the Events Manager to coordinate staffing and other front-of-house needs.
  • Be present to work events and Box Office shifts (daytime or evening) as needed.
  • Handle routine Box Office business (reservations, group sales, comp list pulls, gift certificates, etc).
  • Assists with supervising and training usher/ticket scanner volunteers.
  • Set up box offices as welcoming, efficient environments for customers to get excellent service. Coordinate with Marketing Department to make sure there are appropriate notices, brochures, and other essential communications and promotions at these locations.

Box Office Management

  • Oversee and execute all Box Office operations including contracts, event builds, reporting, database maintenance, and show settlements.

  • Train and assist the creation of reports on sales, attendance, donors, finances, and other information, as needed, to other departments, including Marketing, Finance, and Development.
  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of our ticketing software, Spektrix, as well as our client portal, Planning Pod.
  • Ensure box office policies are compliant with ADA regulations.
  • Work closely with the Development department to help manage patron and donor information.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key strategic partners, such as local performance groups, promoters, and community leaders.
  • Work closely with Marketing for event announcements, on sale dates and presales (promoter, venue, and donor). Coordinate posters, fliers, event images and descriptions for some events.
  • Complete the relevant accounting procedures on a daily basis, accurately recording the daily box office takings, dealing with discrepancies, and completing the relevant documentation. This position is responsible for the security of the box office and any monies taken and ensuring that the box office takings accurately balance at the end of each shift.
  • Oversee all aspects of ticket scanners including setup, tear down, maintenance, etc. and assist in event scan reports and drop counts to Event Manager during closing procedures following each event.
  • Assist with the sale and promotion of the venue for rentals and shows
  • The Carolina Theatre of Greensboro operates with a small staff structure and all staff are required to wear multiple hats. Successful candidates must be willing to complete duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field.
  • Require minimum of 3 years of professional ticketing experience
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and organizational skills, possess a polished public manner, able to interact well with the public daily, effectively manage patron complaints/concerns and be comfortable with public speaking.
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge simple graphic design such as Canva.
  • Prior customer service, hospitality, or House Management experience.
  • Previous experience with cash handling.
