JOB OPPORTUNITY
President and CEO
The Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum has been the place for children and families to explore, play, and learn together in our community for more than 20 years! The board and staff are looking for a dreamer, developer, and diversity-minded CEO to lead our next stage of growth and innovation, building on the Museum’s strong reputation as a place for families to play, learn and grow and as a community connection hub. The next CEO will succeed Marian King, who is stepping down from the role this summer after 12 years growing the fun footprint of the Museum, securing its infrastructure and strengthening partnerships with individuals, businesses, foundations and municipalities.
MBCM’s new CEO will work with a team of 13 full time and 16 part time staff in a newly refurbished facility with a brand-new roof, HVAC and upgraded lighting, floors and restrooms, allowing this dynamic, visionary leader the opportunity to fully focus on the Museum’s mission to engage all children and families in hands-on, fun learning experiences which contribute to their growth and development through play, creation, outdoor exploration, and STEM experiences. Designed to inspire hands-on learning through play, MBCM offers a fun, energetic and safe environment for children of all ages. Located in Downtown Greensboro, children, their families, and teachers can interact with more than 20 exhibits including the 30-foot-tall Neptune XXL Climbers, half-acre learning garden (the Edible Schoolyard) and STEM-focused Growing Place, which are each designed to stimulate children’s imaginations and provide educational play experiences. In its 33,000 square feet of exhibit space, MBCM boasts eight full-size real-life vehicles for kids to explore including a police car, ambulance, Volvo truck, race car, firetruck and the cockpit of a real airplane. The Museum is in the heart of Greensboro’s cultural district, steps away from Central Library, LeBauer Park and the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts.
MBCM operates from a position of financial strength, with momentum in our camps, afterschool programs, weekly pop-up, free-with admission events and memberships with exciting opportunities for growth. The Museum rebounded from the pandemic closure thanks to an outpouring of community support, federal COVID relief programs and the leadership of an active and engaged Board of Directors.
Applications will be reviewed as received beginning February 28, 2023 and accepted until the position is filled. Inquiries and nominations should be sent to mbcmcandidates@gmail.com.
