On February 23, 2026, The ACGG will gather at The Pyrle to mark the launch of ArtsFund, our annual fund campaign, with an evening that sets the tone for the year ahead. It is a moment to reconnect with longtime supporters, welcome new ones, and affirm a shared belief that the arts belong at the center of civic life in Greater Greensboro.
ArtsFund plays a central role in sustaining our work. While many gifts support specific programs, ArtsFund provides unrestricted support. That flexibility allows The ACGG to invest where the need is greatest, in real time, year-round. It strengthens the systems that support artists, fuels cross-sector collaboration, advances equity and access, and reinforces the leadership and infrastructure that help creativity drive community impac
This year’s campaign is co-chaired by Martha and Clifford Thompson, lifelong champions of art, community, and the creative spirit. Their leadership extends a deeply rooted family legacy and a steady commitment to Greensboro. Their example underscores a simple truth: creativity does not sustain itself. It is nurtured through investment, collaboration, and people willing to stand behind it.
The evening will include live music from Artist Support Grantees, hospitality, and a brief presentation outlining ArtsFund’s purpose and impact. Attendees will include our donor community and artist support grantees from recent years across many disciplines. Conversations will spark new introductions, shared stories, and the buzz of possibility, reflecting the strength of our arts sector as a connected ecosystem.
The ArtsFund celebration signals what this support makes possible: connection across sectors, a shared vision for the future, and the momentum that comes when a community invests in its artists and cultural life.
The value of the arts is deeply human, but it is also measurable.
Americans for the Arts’ Arts and Economic Prosperity 6 study found the nonprofit arts and culture sector generated $151.7 billion in economic activity nationally in 2022, supported 2.6 million jobs, and generated $29.1 billion in government revenue. In Greensboro, the same study shows that arts and culture audiences spend additional dollars locally, strengthening restaurants and small businesses and contributing to economic vitality.
As The ACGG enters the annual fund season, ArtsFund provides a foundation for the year’s work ahead, helping ensure creativity remains a vital force in Greensboro’s identity and future.
