Why ArtsGreensboro?

ArtsGreensboro

A new brand, a new look, and a new strategy to connect with the Greensboro community. That’s what we announced today at the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro’s 2013 Annual Meeting. We needed a brand that better communicates who we are and what we do, and today’s announcement of our new name and logo is the culmination of a thoughtful and deliberative process of re-visioning and refocusing our efforts. The new brand will be easy to remember, contemporary, and is more inclusive. Most importantly, it puts the arts first in Greensboro.

ArtsGreensboro will continue to promote, support and advocate for the arts as it has done so well for 51 years thanks to the generosity of this community. Our new brand reflects a shift on our thinking about the need to grow resources for the arts, and how to secure them through innovative approaches and programs – underscoring our role as Greensboro’s dedicated source of financial support for our creative community. From established programs like Triad Stage and the Greensboro Symphony, to popular emerging organizations like Elsewhere and the Magic Art Bus, ArtsGreensboro will support the diversity of our arts through a broad range of resources and services.

One example of those services is gathering data that shows just how important the arts industry is to the economic health of our community. A recent study done by the Americans for the Arts (2012) revealed that nonprofit arts and culture are a $118.1 million industry in Greensboro that supports 4,269 full-time equivalent jobs and generates $11.3 million in local and state government revenue.

From programs like the ARTSFund, 17 Days Arts and Culture Festival and power2give.org – a crowd sourced online giving platform – Arts Greensboro will continue to connect arts enthusiasts to local artists and projects.

Our new name and logo build on the trust and respect the arts council has received for over 50 years. Since being founded in 1962, the arts council has contributed an estimated $20million to area arts organizations and projects. It’s that spirit which inspired the name ArtsGreensboro – putting the arts first.
