Oil Painting Abstract Class

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Thursday, repeating until March 30, 2023
A four week course designed to guide you in exploring the Abstract Expressionist style with rich colors and textures in traditional oil paint and mediums. Basic materials will be provided during class but feel free to bring your own. No prior experience needed.

“No intention. Movement. Make a mark. Meditative but spontaneous, energetic, allowing. I wait and look. Feel. Respond. Let go and let things happen, accept and postpone interpretation. A flame emerges, then a figure behind it. Light requests to be present. Lots of layering and light and dark colors create depth and space. Bold brushstrokes and palette knife marks contrast with subtle detailed areas. I get lost in the marks I’ve made, in the smooth plains of color, and the interactions.”
