My name is Sarah Lanse, and I’m the Director of Marketing for the Greensboro Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Greensboro). I’ve lived in several states, and through those experiences, I’ve come to see art as an amazing way to express your inner self. Writing has always been my passion, and I’ve carried that love into my work over the years.
One of the things I cherish about Greensboro is its vibrant and accessible art scene. I remember attending a Drag Queen Story Time at Scuppernong Books, where a performer read my son’s favorite book, The Pout-Pout Fish. It was such a joyful experience that sparked a love for diverse artistic expressions in my family – From music to theatre to visual arts.
What’s truly remarkable about Greensboro’s art scene is how accessible it is. While we have amazing venues like the Tanger Center and the Carolina Theatre, you can also spend a day immersed in the arts and not pay a penny. From public art installations on Elm Street to the Cultural Arts Center’s galleries, there’s beauty everywhere you look.
I’m also grateful for Visit Greensboro’s partnership with The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro. We collaborated so that arts events on their calendar are forwarded directly to Visit Greensboro to be potentially included on the Visit Greensboro calendar. There’s just so much here in Greensboro that we want to share with the world. This collaboration allows us to promote everything from major festivals to intimate gallery shows, making sure everyone can discover what our community offers.
Greensboro’s art scene truly has something for everyone—regardless of age or background. It’s open, welcoming, and filled with opportunities for all. Art is woven into the fabric of our everyday lives here. Whether I’m enjoying a performance of & Juliet at the Tanger Center or admiring the artwork on my office wall, there is inspiration everywhere.
