Effective April 2nd, Laura Way will assume the role of President & CEO at ArtsGreensboro.
Greensboro, N.C., March 5, 2019 – Effective April 2nd, Laura Way will assume the role of President & CEO at ArtsGreensboro. In making the announcement, Board Chair Jill White said “We are thrilled that Laura will be taking on the responsibility of managing and growing ArtsGreensboro. She will continue to play a pivotal role in elevating our cultural arts community in Greensboro and Guilford County.”
Charles Aris, Inc. managed a national search that attracted candidates from across the United States and Way emerged as the right choice for ArtsGreensboro. “Based on her extensive background and success as the Executive Director of GreenHill in Greensboro, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation in Charlotte, and as Director of Operations and Finance for Penland School of Crafts, Way is the right person to lead our city’s robust, growing arts landscape,” said White.
Interim President and CEO since July 1st, Amy Grossmann has led ArtsGreensboro during the national search. Grossmann accomplished this while continuing to serve as Director of the North Carolina Folk Festival, the role for which she was recruited to Greensboro in 2014. She said, “It has been my honor and privilege to lead ArtsGreensboro through this leadership transition. I am thrilled to work with and support Laura in her new role as I shift my full-time focus to the Festival and continuing to grow Greensboro’s reputation as a cultural destination.”
Upon accepting the position, Way, who is a member the Greensboro Cultural Arts Master Plan Task Force, said, “Greensboro is on the cusp of a renaissance in the arts, evidenced by the response and enthusiasm we saw in the GCAMP process and the unanimous approval of the plan by Greensboro City Council. Since 1962, ArtsGreensboro has played an essential role in arts in our city, and I am excited to lead this important organization into the next decade.”
